Eastern & Oriental Hotel @ George Town, Penang

I know, I know.. My past couple of blogs have about the beautiful city of Penang. There’s just too many nice places to explore in this island that I really want to share with you. In my last post, I mentioned that we were here a few weeks back for our pre-wedding shoot. We went from one bridal house after another, and flipped through tons of albums to finally decide on Eastern & Oriental Hotel as our favourite location for the shoot. There was one condition the hotel had : in order to have our photos taken within the premise, we needed to stay at least a night here since it was strictly for in-house guests only.  Continue reading “Eastern & Oriental Hotel @ George Town, Penang”

Loke Thye Kee Residences @ Georgetown, Penang

“Where in Penang are we staying this time?” I asked. As always, his response would be “It’s up to you. You know the budget, you choose.” At times a bit stressful, but most times I enjoy exploring the options. Good thing is both our preference would be in a charming boutique hotel. I’ve always had some names on top of my head as I came across them during my last stay. Given a short notice, I did a quick search on these places for the best possible deals that weekend. Most of the familiar names I knew were all booked out. Either that, or they were overpriced. Little did I know then, it was Georgetown World Heritage City Day weekend. There’s a festival held each year in the city in honour of this day. Continue reading “Loke Thye Kee Residences @ Georgetown, Penang”

Silverwater Resort & The Cape Kitchen @ Phillip Island, Victoria

Phillip Island lies in the southern coast of Australia, and is round about 1.5 hours drive southeast from Melbourne city. It has been a popular day trip destination to many for its charming scenery, nature and outdoor activities. As for me, my main reason was to experience the Penguin Parade and enjoy the tranquility of this island. Continue reading “Silverwater Resort & The Cape Kitchen @ Phillip Island, Victoria”

Best Western Premier Ion Delemen Resort @ Genting Highlands

Best Western Premier Ion Delemen is the latest resort up in the hills of Genting Highlands. It is a new development just a few kilometers from activities such as golf, casino, shopping, theme park and more. Although it has a 5-star rating, it didn’t leave me an impression of a high rated luxury resort. There’s a total of 246 rooms. A Deluxe Room is about 400++ per night during peak season, and it can go as low as RM200++ during off peak. Continue reading “Best Western Premier Ion Delemen Resort @ Genting Highlands”

Muntri Grove Hotel @ Lebuh Muntri, Penang

Muntri Grove is a charming heritage boutique hotel along Lebuh Muntri, Penang under the George Town Heritage & Hotels group. The hotel was part of a row of ten old heritage houses built for workers serving the wealthy families then. Though restored, some fabrics of the building had been retained so that guests can experience the essence of Straits Chinese houses in the 19th century. Kebaya Dining Room Restaurant @ Seven Terraces, Penang

Kebaya Dining Room is a restaurant that’s part of Seven Terraces Hotel along Stewart Lane, Penang serving modern Peranakan and Indo-Chinese cuisine. Each guest is served a 4 course meal at about RM120++ per pax including choices from starters, main course, vegetables and dessert. Each serving was portioned in a generous amount. I’d suggest to order different dishes and share-share with your friends, so you’ll get a variety and able try a bit of everything.
