Shun De Gong Restaurant @ Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang

My BFF can be quite a selective eater, especially when it comes to Chinese cuisine. If I ever suggest any of those common Chinese restaurants in Bangsar, she would say things like “So sien (boring), I know how to make that also lah!” or “Outside food is so unhealthy, everything contains MSG and it’s not even nice. I can cook better than that, with less salt and no sugar. We use all the high quality ingredients. Eat at home!”. Very susah (difficult) like this. I would leave it for her to decide where and what most of the time, not unless if I’m dying for a bowl of Assam Laksa. Kenny Hills Bakers @ Taman Tunku

Kenny Hills Bakers is a patisserie situated in the residential area of Taman Tunku. A lush, tranquil, and quiet side of town but only minutes away from the city centre. This bakery however, was bustling amongst the peace and quiet. Crowded with those dining in or simply taking away loaves of organic artisan bread and pastries. It was nonstop busy with people coming in and out this place (possibly because it was a public holiday at the time).

Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village II

Last Sunday, my dear family and I had our lunch over at Marmalade, located on the first floor of Bangsar Village II in Telawi. Marmalade is a family-friendly café serving healthy and very delicious comfort food. I am little embarrassed to say; it was only my second time eating there although it’s been around for more than a decade already. Even more so hard to believe given I’m always around Bangsar Telawi! The first was when my big brother had a craving for their famous carrot cake, while I was there to share half the cake for a cuppa coffee. Continue reading “Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village II”

Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar @ St Giles Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar is a French-Japanese nouvelle cuisine restaurant, on the 6th floor of St Giles Hotel at Mid Valley City. The restaurant has a simple clean design with tall window glasses, high ceiling, bare wooden floors, furniture and table cloths in neutral colours. It’s a good choice if you are planning for a lush date night to celebrate a special occasion with your loved ones due to its romantic ambience. The Pantry Cafe @ Lorong Kurau, Bangsar

The Pantry is a modest looking neighbourhood café serving gourmet all-day breakfast. It is along Lorong Kurau and tucked away from the bustling streets of Maarof and Telawi. Over the past few years, Lorong Kurau had evolved from the old side of Bangsar to what is now a small stretch of eateries from the east to west. I remember only good things about this café when I first tried some time last year. Nadodi Restaurant @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Kuala Lumpur

Last week, I came across Nadodi restaurant from an acquaintance’s facebook page. So me being me, I (obviously) clicked on the post to check out some pictures and also the restaurant’s page. The visual images caught my attention and I couldn’t wait to try. The impatient me went to Nadodi that evening, regardless of the fact it was still their soft launch. I knew I was in for an intriguing evening as soon as I entered the restaurant. Not only because the place looked elegant, but we were also warmly welcomed and greeted by staff of Nadodi carrying amicable smiles on their faces. Tifin by Kumar’s Restaurant @ DC Mall, Damansara Heights

Tifin Restaurant - DC Mall, Malaysian Food Blog
Entrance of Tifin Restaurant, DC Mall

The newly opened DC Mall has a few very popular restaurants which might be familiar to most, namely; Erawan, Soleil, Canton Fare, and Tifin by Kumar’s Restaurant or just Kumar’s as better known by most. As of date, there’s not many outlets open, but I’m sure this mall will soon be filled up with plenty of eateries worth visiting. So for now, let’s stick to the ones that are available. The last time I remember eating at Kumar’s was more than 2 years back at their outlet in Oasis Ara Damansara which was a little far out (for me), although the food was very tasty. Now that Tifin by Kumar’s Restaurant is less than 5 minutes away from home, more reasons to savour some spicy flavourful curry. Even the sound of it entices me! AD Bar @ Telawi Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

It was one of those late evenings when I asked my friends if they were interested for a nightcap at this speakeasy bar in Bangsar after dinner. The name was AD Bar, in short for Anno Domini. We had to call AD Bar a couple of times asking for directions. It was next door to OJO Coffee in Telawi Bangsar, where you can find the dark stairs with yellow lighted hand rails. Walk all the way up and you will see two doors. It’s the door in front of you, not on your left. Then slide open to enter into AD Bar. Continue reading “AD Bar @ Telawi Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur”

Common Man Coffee Roasters @ TTDI, Kuala Lumpur

Instead of my regular salad wrap and cold pressed juice after a sweat sesh at Kiara Hill on a Saturday morning, I went to Common Man Coffee Roasters for a try since I’ve seen some photos of this cafe on Instagram. Lucky thing it was only 2 minutes away from Kiara Hill by foot. CMCR was originally established in Singapore but now has expanded into Malaysia opening its first outlet here in TTDI Kuala Lumpur, offering a full menu (brunch up ’til dinner) and some seriously tasty coffee.  Continue reading “Common Man Coffee Roasters @ TTDI, Kuala Lumpur”
