When I received the invitation to join Shook! KL for an evening of feasting and entertainment, the words that quickly caught my attention were free flow, Bollinger Champagne, and buffet. Before I go on telling you how awesome their buffet and beverage packages are, let me ask if words like champagne, oysters, and live music tickle your fancy? ‘Cause they definitely do to me!! If your answer is similar to mine, then you’re definitely going to enjoy Saturday Night Vibes – Cirque Du Culinaire experience at Shook! in Starhill Gallery.
OK.. I’m gonna be completely honest here. For me, if anyone ever suggests buffet, they better be serving sashimi, seafood, and ice cream. That’s about all I need. Everything else is just supplementary, and drinks are a bonus. I went straight for the freshly-shucked oysters and went a bit nuts on that section. It was a massive seafood attack for me since they had all my favourites like lobsters, sashimi, crabs, prawns and various clams. They paired so well with the Bollinger Special Cuvée Champagne.
Just FYI, Saturday Night Vibes – Cirque Du Culinaire dining is at RM168 nett per pax. The buffet selection at Shook! is actually a combination of signature dishes from all the restaurants in Feast Village, Starhill Gallery. For an additional RM88 nett, you’ll get FREE FLOW of beer, wine, and cocktails. Whereas, the champagne package would be at a total of RM398 nett per pax (7PM – 10.30PM). We got to sample a couple of their cocktails such as Aperol Spritz and Spicy Mango Margarita. I’m not too sure about their Aperol Spritz, it’s apparently their signature cocktail but it just wasn’t my kind of drink. The Spicy Mango Margarita on the other hand, was pretty good and had a slight chili padi kick.
Besides fresh seafood, the Five-Spice Lamb Rack and Wagyu Beef Cheeks were not too bad. The taste was okay but they were very tender in texture. Other choices also include seafood and meat grill, Peking duck, pizza and more.
There were also magician and clown that kept us occupied in between our meals. This is a plus for those who are bringing their children, since they could keep those little ones entertained. Live music starts from 10PM at Saturday Night Vibes featuring different performers every week.
I really love how colourful the macarons were in the dessert section. Pistachio was my favourite! The mini cakes were neatly displayed as well but I’m not a big fan of cakes at buffets for some reason. Most were too sweet, and some were just tasteless. I was almost disappointed thinking they didn’t have ice cream but turned out it wasn’t self-service, and you’ll just have to request from the friendly staff behind the counter.
For those who don’t crave the sweets, you could also end your night with some cheese, dried fruits, and vino. X’mas is just around the corner, so why not the pre-celebration this week already?! Remember to drink responsibly. Catch an Uber if you’re planning on doing the free flow.
