Old Georgetown Cafe @ George Town, Penang

During this visit to Penang, time was very limited and food hunting wasn’t our main focus. Our schedule was so jam packed that I didn’t make a makan wish list. All I had in mind was minimizing any possible hassle of traveling from one place to another, having to queue and trouble finding parking. But I was lucky enough to have a friend invited me over to Old Georgetown Cafe, a few weeks old eatery, to sample some famous street food. That saved me from all headaches having to think of where to go eat all my favourite Penang food given that limited time. Continue reading “Old Georgetown Cafe @ George Town, Penang”

Breakfast Thieves @ APW Bangsar

APW, short for Art Printing Works is a creative space for different private events / markets such as art, fashion, music, product launch and even community yoga. This space spreads a very positive energetic vibe somehow, and there’s bound to be an event or activity happening every week. It is no wonder a hot spot, where all the young and hip are, to see and be seen. Not forgetting the F&B outlets that’s also drawing the crowd in. Somehow in the past it was quite the opposite for me. I’ve been to APW a number of times but I find it way too warm during the day, that it would discourage me to even think about heading there. But since we really wanted brunch at Breakfast Thieves and thought APW was a nice place for photos, we quickly head over at 10AM before the crowd built up (and before we both turn into grumpy cats). Wild Honey @ Pavilion, K.L.

It was one of those rare occasions that I would be spotted in the city for lunch on a Sunday. Futhermore, it was in a mall. You know lah, some of them are always swarmed with people over weekends. To me, having meals in malls are almost always due to convenience. I’m one of those who gets agitated when there’s a long queue, and don’t deal too well with crowds. If it wasn’t because I had some shopping to do, I wouldn’t have ended up in Wild Honey, Pavilion. Continue reading “Wild Honey @ Pavilion, K.L.”

Frisson Coffee Bar @ Damansara Utama, P.J

Very often before Sunday comes, I would have decided where I wanted to go for brunch on that day. However, Mr Gadget had to bring his car to the workshop, not knowing if any of them will be open. We decided to just try our luck in Damansara Utama since there are so many workshops in that area, we guessed there must be at least one that was open. Otherwise, we would’ve continued searching in other places. As it needed about 1.5 hours to be fixed, we had to find ways to kill time. What better ways than having a snack and coffee? We had a heavy breakfast before at home, so we couldn’t exactly fit in a full course lunch. Besides car workshops, there’s also plenty of cafés and dessert bars along that stretch of shophouses. We randomly entered into Frisson Coffee Bar, which was almost full house already by the time we got there. Continue reading “Frisson Coffee Bar @ Damansara Utama, P.J”

Nara Kitchen & Co. @ Uptown, P.J.

Damansara Utama or otherwise known as Uptown, is a happening suburb in Petaling Jaya with a few new developments like the latest Starling mall and Somerset serviced apartments. When it comes to eateries, you are spoiled for choices as there are way too many of them. From a typical mamak, to fast food chains, hawkers, cafés, desserts, you name it. A happening place like this also means that parking is a challenge. As such, there’s only 3 reasons why I would drag myself there; 1) Village Park Nasi Lemak, 2) simply looking for a café for an ang moh brunch, 3) Desserts!! Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village II

Last Sunday, my dear family and I had our lunch over at Marmalade, located on the first floor of Bangsar Village II in Telawi. Marmalade is a family-friendly café serving healthy and very delicious comfort food. I am little embarrassed to say; it was only my second time eating there although it’s been around for more than a decade already. Even more so hard to believe given I’m always around Bangsar Telawi! The first was when my big brother had a craving for their famous carrot cake, while I was there to share half the cake for a cuppa coffee. Continue reading “Marmalade Cafe @ Bangsar Village II”

The Pantry Cafe @ Lorong Kurau, Bangsar

The Pantry is a modest looking neighbourhood café serving gourmet all-day breakfast. It is along Lorong Kurau and tucked away from the bustling streets of Maarof and Telawi. Over the past few years, Lorong Kurau had evolved from the old side of Bangsar to what is now a small stretch of eateries from the east to west. I remember only good things about this café when I first tried some time last year. Jeq In The House Cafe @ Section 17, Petaling Jaya

It was a drizzly and cloudy Sunday evening. The kind of weather where you feel like curling up and snuggle under sheets while watching your favourite TV show. But not me. This was the perfect weather to go places. So I opened Safari to search for a decent café serving dinner (out of Bangsar), called an Uber, brought my laptop and head straight over to Jeq In The House at Section 17. Common Man Coffee Roasters @ TTDI, Kuala Lumpur

Instead of my regular salad wrap and cold pressed juice after a sweat sesh at Kiara Hill on a Saturday morning, I went to Common Man Coffee Roasters for a try since I’ve seen some photos of this cafe on Instagram. Lucky thing it was only 2 minutes away from Kiara Hill by foot. CMCR was originally established in Singapore but now has expanded into Malaysia opening its first outlet here in TTDI Kuala Lumpur, offering a full menu (brunch up ’til dinner) and some seriously tasty coffee.  Continue reading “Common Man Coffee Roasters @ TTDI, Kuala Lumpur”
