The newly opened DC Mall has a few very popular restaurants which might be familiar to most, namely; Erawan, Soleil, Canton Fare, and Tifin by Kumar’s Restaurant or just Kumar’s as better known by most. As of date, there’s not many outlets open, but I’m sure this mall will soon be filled up with plenty of eateries worth visiting. So for now, let’s stick to the ones that are available. The last time I remember eating at Kumar’s was more than 2 years back at their outlet in Oasis Ara Damansara which was a little far out (for me), although the food was very tasty. Now that Tifin by Kumar’s Restaurant is less than 5 minutes away from home, more reasons to savour some spicy flavourful curry. Even the sound of it entices me!
Tifin occupies 2 lots adjoint vertically in a casual restaurant setting with both high and low dining tables. They embrace an open-concept kitchen showcasing their food preparation. Though “open”, there’s a clear glass window as partition to reduce smells and sounds coming from the kitchen. Tifin was also very brightly lit with quirky wall quotes; Tifin‘s house rules and football jerseys hanging on the walls. All these created a fun yet pleasant atmosphere.
Tifin serves moderately-priced hearty Indian food. Since there was a pretty long list to choose from the menu, we went straight to Kumar’s Signatures. Some of what we have ordered here were Fish Head Curry (RM89.90 – medium, RM99.90 – large), Stewed Spinach with Dhal (RM17.90), and Egg Podimas (RM15.90 – scrambled egg with a twist). The Fish Head Curry was seriously appetizing. Fish was tangy and the kuah went so well with garlic naan. The sort that makes you crave for more rice. I must say all the above from their signatures were delectable.
Cool yourself down with an ice cold mango lassi after drenching yourself in sweat from spicy food (I did for sure, even with the blasting air conditioner). Desserts for the sweet tooth and alcoholic beverages are also available here.
What was good about Tifin by Kumar’s:
- Delectable hearty Indian food
- Spacious and clean
- Suitable for group dining events
What was bad about Tifin by Kumar’s:
- Lots of mosquitos due to constructions surrounding DC mall
